Privacy Policy for Atomic Hebrew
This Privacy Policy explains how Atomic Hebrew collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the Atomic Hebrew Android app.
1. Who we are
Atomic Hebrew is an Android app for learning Hebrew vocabulary through real texts, audio lessons, word cards, and learning exercises. For privacy questions, contact us at hello@atomic-language.com.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the app, we may collect or process the following information:
- Account and authentication data: email address, one-time password sign-in status, Supabase user ID, session state, and related authentication records.
- Learning data: words and meanings you add to learn, selected translations or meanings, learning progress, review state, settings, reset-progress actions, and account-deletion requests.
- Dictionary and content data: dictionary pack version, refresh state, word lookup state, feedback about translations, manual translation suggestions, and support messages you choose to send.
- Discovery lesson data: lesson state, downloaded audio state, text or transcript state, playback position, progress through a lesson, and local cache state used to let you continue learning.
- Technical and diagnostic data: app version, build information, device/runtime state, error states, logs, and performance signals needed to keep the app working and diagnose problems.
- Product usage events: in-app actions such as screen opens, taps on the main call-to-action, swipes in Find Words, words you choose to add to learning, learning step start and completion, review queue interactions, session start and end. Each event is tied to a pseudonymous device identifier we generate on first launch (not an advertising identifier) and, after sign-in, to your Supabase account identifier. Events do not contain content from other apps, location, contacts, photos, microphone audio, calendar, or financial data.
3. Information stored on your device
Some data is stored locally on your device so the app can keep you signed in, remember settings, save learning progress, keep downloaded lesson audio available, and continue a lesson from where you stopped. Local data may include authentication session data, playback positions, learning state, dictionary pack data, cached lesson content, settings, and feedback drafts.
4. How we use information
We use information to:
- create and maintain your account session;
- deliver lessons, transcripts, audio, dictionary data, and learning exercises;
- save learning progress and show the correct review state;
- process feedback, translation reports, and support requests;
- refresh dictionary/device-pack data;
- diagnose app errors, improve reliability, and protect the service;
- understand how learners progress through the app, identify where the experience breaks down, and improve product quality using aggregated product usage events;
- respond to account deletion or privacy requests.
Product usage events are aggregated for analytics and product improvement only. We do not use them to build advertising profiles, and we do not share them with third parties for advertising.
5. Service providers and sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We use service providers to operate the app, including Supabase for authentication, database, backend functions, and storage infrastructure. These providers process information only to help us provide and maintain Atomic Hebrew.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect the security of the app, or to investigate abuse or technical failures.
6. Data retention
We keep the following data for the following periods:
- Account data (email, Supabase user ID, session state) — until you delete the account, or until your account has been inactive for 24 months, whichever comes first.
- Learning data (words added, progress, review state, settings) — until you delete the account or use Reset progress in Settings, whichever comes first.
- Feedback and translation reports — until the report is processed, plus up to 12 months for quality auditing.
- Local data on your device — until you delete the app, clear app data, reset progress, sign out where applicable, or request account deletion.
7. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure (deletion) — request that we delete your account and the data tied to it.
- Portability — request your learning data in a machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.
The app includes an account deletion request flow in Settings. You can also exercise any of the rights above by contacting us at hello@atomic-language.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your account before completing certain requests. If you believe we have not handled your request properly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including authenticated access to user-owned data and backend infrastructure controls. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
Atomic Hebrew is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
10. International processing
Your information may be processed in countries other than your country of residence, depending on where our service providers operate infrastructure.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, data practices, or legal requirements change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
